(More customer reviews)First off, I want all the readers of this review to know that as I write this, my beard is scruffy and uneven, my neck line is half trimmed, and I am bleeding. I'm going to be hard on this product because of that, so I hope you can understand my position.
First off, the box this set comes in is obnoxiously large, and 90% of it is empty space. It is a great example of wasteful packaging. While the packaging has no effect on whether the product is good or bad, it's very important to me not to be wastful, or to support companies that engage in wasteful packaging.
Out of the box, the trimmer looks nice, and is comfortable to hold. Trimmer heads swap on and off easily. The combs, however, while easy to snap in to place, leave you feeling like you're going to break something when removing them.
The charger base is, for lack of a better word, cheesy. Getting the trimmer to mate with the barrel plug in the bottom of the base is awkward, and I suspect it would be quite easy to break. The barrel plug itself grips so firmly in the base of the trimmer that removing it for use is a two-handed operation; one hand to extract the trimmer, and the other hand to hold the base down.
In use, this trimmer is awful. It pulls hair often, and simply does not cut hair to an even length. Most unforgiveably, while using the trimmer head without a comb to clean up my neck line, I was cut not once, but twice, which prompted me to stop trying to groom myself, and to write this review.
In short, I could probably do a better job of grooming my beard with a bottle of scotch and a hedge trimmer. I'll be returning my Remington PG-400 Deluxe Grooming System immediately.
